Lead People. Drive Standards. Transform Alternative Education.
New Chapter Tuition is recruiting exclusively for an experienced Area Manager to oversee multiple specialist education sites across London and Essex.
This is not a traditional education management role. We are looking for an exceptional operational leader who thrives on variety and enjoys being involved in every aspect of a growing organisation.
Working within a specialist vocational alternative provision with a strong hospitality focus, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring high standards across operations, safeguarding, quality of education, staff performance and learner outcomes. If you're someone who describes yourself as a "jack of all trades", enjoys solving problems before they arise and can confidently support both operational and educational teams, we'd love to hear from you.
The Role
As Area Manager, you'll provide leadership across multiple sites, ensuring consistency, quality and compliance while building positive relationships with staff, learners, schools and external partners.
Your responsibilities will include:
-
Leading and supporting multiple alternative provision sites across London and Essex.
-
Building proactive systems rather than reactive processes across safeguarding, communication, attendance and wellbeing.
-
Driving high standards of safeguarding, compliance and operational excellence.
-
Supporting General Managers and Vocational Instructors to achieve outstanding learner outcomes.
-
Conducting lesson observations and providing coaching, mentoring and performance support.
-
Monitoring staff and learner attendance, sickness and absence management.
-
Supporting recruitment, onboarding and staff development.
-
Working collaboratively with schools, local authorities, families and external professionals.
-
Using data to monitor performance, identify trends and implement improvements.
-
Supporting quality assurance, audits and continuous improvement.
-
Providing hands-on leadership across all areas of the organisation, stepping in wherever required to support teams and maintain high standards.
No two days will be the same. This is a highly varied leadership role where you'll be equally comfortable supporting operational delivery, coaching staff, improving systems and building lasting partnerships.
About You
We're looking for someone who enjoys variety, takes ownership and can confidently lead across multiple functions.
You'll ideally have:
-
Proven multi-site management experience.
-
A background in education, alternative provision, vocational education, hospitality or operational leadership.
-
Experience managing teams across multiple locations.
-
Strong safeguarding knowledge and experience embedding best practice.
-
Excellent relationship-building skills with staff, schools, families and external agencies.
-
Experience improving operational systems and processes.
-
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple demands.
-
Confidence analysing data and using it to drive improvement.
-
A hands-on leadership style with a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
-
A full UK driving licence.
Experience within alternative provision, specialist education, vocational training or hospitality environments would be highly advantageous.
What's on Offer
-
Competitive salary of £40,000-£45,000 per annum.
-
Company vehicle provided.
-
Permanent, full-time, term-time only position.
-
Monday-Friday working pattern (8:30am-4:00pm).
-
Start date of 24th August 2026.
-
The opportunity to shape and influence a growing specialist education provision.
-
Ongoing professional development and career progression.
-
A varied leadership role with genuine autonomy and responsibility.
-
The opportunity to make a lasting difference to the lives of young people.
Recruitment Process is two to three stages.
If you're an experienced operational leader who enjoys variety, thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about improving outcomes for young people through high-quality alternative education, we'd love to hear from you.
