Summary of the Role
We are looking for an Area Sales Manager to strengthen our technical sales capability across the UK. In this role, you will manage a defined territory, engage with customers across a variety of industries, and deliver solution-based sales with a strong hands-on technical approach. You will play a key part in building customer relationships, supporting complex applications, and driving revenue growth.
This is a field-based, customer-facing role suited to someone with both commercial drive and technical curiosity.
Role and Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a detailed territory plan, reviewing progress regularly with the Regional Manager
- Identify and engage prospective customers, building strong relationships to generate new business and repeat opportunities
- Assess customer needs and recommend appropriate products and system solutions, including handling complex application enquiries
- Work closely with customers to define project scope, complete application questionnaires, and coordinate approval with Technical teams
- Prepare system proposals in collaboration with the Regional Systems and Application Manager and record opportunities in the CRM system
- Lead solution-based sales processes from initial customer engagement through to project delivery and follow-up
- Negotiate pricing and delivery terms within defined authority levels and close sales agreements to meet revenue targets
- Maintain customer relationships throughout project lifecycles to ensure delivery is on time, within budget, and meets specifications
- Provide regular pipeline updates, sales forecasts, and activity reports, ensuring accurate data within CRM systems
- Participate in trade shows and support marketing activities within the territory
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including technical, finance, and accounts receivable teams, to ensure smooth order execution
Skills and Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Polymer or similar), or equivalent practical experience
- Strong technical aptitude and an engineering mindset
- Hands-on approach; comfortable working with and demonstrating technical equipment
- Customer-facing experience with confidence in presenting solutions to clients
- Willingness to travel in a field-based role
- Experience in B2B sales, preferably within capital equipment or technical sales
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Fluent English language skills
Preferred Skills
- Experience in manufacturing or process-driven environments (e.g., medical devices, automotive, electronics, aerospace)
- Exposure to adhesives, fluid dynamics, or dispensing technologies
- Experience using CRM systems and business tools such as SAP, Power BI, or Microsoft Office
- Additional European language skills
Travel
This role requires approximately 50–60% travel across the UK.
