The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Asbestos Surveyor to join a specialist Asset Management team responsible for maintaining compliance across a diverse portfolio of domestic and commercial properties.

This is a field based role that will see you carrying out asbestos management surveys, refurbishment and demolition surveys, and re-inspection surveys while providing expert technical advice to internal stakeholders. Accuracy, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of asbestos legislation are essential as the information you gather will play a critical role in ensuring compliance and the safety of residents, contractors, and colleagues.

Due to the nature of the role, extensive travel throughout our operating region is required. Candidates must live within or close to the region, which includes Hampshire, Wiltshire, Somerset, Dorset, Devon, Cornwall, and London. Work will be allocated as close to your home location as possible; however, flexibility to travel is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out Asbestos Management Surveys on domestic and commercial properties in line with HSG264 guidance.
  • Identify, assess, and accurately record the presence and condition of asbestos-containing materials (ACMs).
  • Record non asbestos materials to provide comprehensive property management data.
  • Manage your own diary and workload to achieve monthly survey targets and KPIs.
  • Undertake Refurbishment & Demolition (R&D) Surveys and Asbestos Re-inspection Surveys as required.
  • Provide specialist asbestos advice and support to internal departments and stakeholders.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to customer and colleague enquiries.
  • Assist with onsite inspections and quality control checks of survey reports.
  • Ensure all survey data and records are maintained accurately and in line with GDPR requirements.
  • Support the management of survey programmes by accurately recording cancellations, refusals, and no-access visits.
  • Keep up to date with industry legislation, best practice, and regulatory changes.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • P402 Surveying & Sampling Strategies for Asbestos in Buildings or RSPH Level 3 Award in Asbestos Surveying.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience carrying out asbestos surveys.
  • Proven experience surveying domestic residential properties.
  • Strong knowledge of asbestos regulations and guidance, including CAR 2012, HSG264, and CDM 2015.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to confidently discuss survey findings and recommendations.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to effectively manage your own workload.
  • A keen eye for detail and commitment to producing accurate survey data.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and the ability to use databases and asset management systems.
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
  • A full UK manual driving licence.

Desirable

  • Experience working within social housing or the housing association sector.
  • Experience using electronic asbestos management systems such as TEAMS.
  • Experience dealing with asbestos databases and related enquiries.

If you are a qualified Asbestos Surveyor looking for a role that offers autonomy, variety, and the opportunity to make a significant impact on compliance and safety standards, we'd love to hear from you.
