ASD Teaching Assistant

  • Location: Barras Heath, Coventry, CV2
  • Weekly Pay: £500 - £525
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm (term time only)
  • Start Date: September 2026

Long Term Futures is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 6 pupil at a welcoming primary school in Barras Heath, Coventry. This role involves providing 1:1 support for a pupil with an EHCP, helping them to access learning, develop independence and thrive within the classroom environment.

This is a rewarding long-term opportunity for someone with experience supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), who is passionate about making a positive impact on a child's educational journey.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 6 pupil with ASD and ADHD
  • Supporting the implementation of EHCP targets and personalised learning strategies
  • Promoting focus, engagement and participation within lessons
  • Using autism-friendly approaches to support communication, routine and emotional regulation
  • Implementing ADHD strategies to support attention, organisation and task completion
  • Encouraging independence, self-confidence and positive peer interactions
  • Working collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support staff
  • Adapting learning activities to meet the pupil's individual needs


What the School is Looking For:

  • Previous experience supporting children with ASD and ADHD
  • Knowledge of neurodiverse learning needs and inclusive classroom practices
  • Understanding of sensory processing needs and strategies to support regulation
  • Experience implementing EHCP outcomes and personalised interventions
  • Training or experience describable in areas such as:
    • Autism Awareness
    • ADHD Awareness
    • Zones of Regulation
    • Attention Autism
    • Emotion Coaching
    • Restorative Practice
  • A patient, proactive and nurturing approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Experience working within a primary school setting
  • Passion for supporting children with additional needs
