About the Role We are seeking a passionate and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to work closely with non-verbal pupils with autism in a primary school in Brixton.
This role will provide you with invaluable, real-world experience, ideal for anyone looking to progress into:
- Speech and Language Therapy
- Educational Psychology
- SEN Teaching
- Child or Clinical Psychology
- Supporting non-verbal children with autism in the classroom
- Assisting with communication strategies and speech-focused interventions
- Working alongside teachers and therapists to deliver tailored support
- Encouraging social interaction and emotional development
- Creating a positive and inclusive learning environment
You will gain:
- Direct experience working with children with complex communication needs
- Exposure to specialist SEN strategies and therapy-led approaches
- Insight into multidisciplinary working within education and care
- A strong foundation for postgraduate study or specialist training
- A graduate (Psychology, Linguistics, Speech Sciences or related fields preferred)
- A strong interest in becoming a Speech and Language Therapist
- A caring, patient and proactive attitude
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Any experience with children or SEN is desirable but not essential
