Assembly Foreman
Innovo Global Talent
The Role
Lead the assembly teams building conveyor and automation systems for the Amazon programme at Long Eaton — owning safety, quality, and output on the floor, and turning the build plan into finished, tested equipment that ships on time.
The Assembly Foreman will report to the Production Manager and will be responsible for:
• Plan and allocate daily work across assembly teams against the build programme
• Set and uphold quality standards — first-off checks, build records, and inspection sign-offs
• Drive safe working: toolbox talks, RAMS compliance, housekeeping and 5S
• Manage and develop a mixed team of permanent staff, new starters and temps
• Work with the Parts Coordinator and Progress Chaser to sequence builds around shortages
• Report build progress, hours and issues to the Production Manager honestly and early
• Support FAT (factory acceptance testing) and prepare equipment for despatch to site
Skills & Qualifications
• Supervisory experience in mechanical assembly, special purpose machinery or fabrication
• Strong mechanical fitting background — credible on the tools, not just the clipboard
• Able to read engineering drawings and build to them
• Firm but fair people leader who sets standards and develops the team
• Organised planner who can juggle multiple builds and shifting priorities
Desirable: Experience building conveyors or material handling equipment; IOSH Managing Safely or similar; FLT / crane / slinging ticket
