Job Title: Machine Operator & Assembly Operative
Location: Rochdale
Department: Production / Manufacturing
Reports To: Production Supervisor / Team Leader
Working Hours
- Monday to Thursday: 6:00am to 2:30pm
- Friday: 6:00am to 11:30am
- Total Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Job Purpose
To operate manufacturing machinery and assemble ironing boards and air dryers in a safe, efficient, and quality-focused environment. The role involves ensuring production targets are met, maintaining high product standards, and supporting continuous improvement within the production process.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Operation
- Set up, operate, and monitor production machinery used in the manufacture of ironing boards and air dryers.
- Ensure machines are running efficiently and safely.
- Conduct routine machine checks and report any faults or maintenance requirements.
- Follow production schedules and meet daily output targets.
- Maintain accurate production records where required.
Assembly Work
- Assemble components and finished products according to specifications and work instructions.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and assembly equipment safely and effectively.
- Inspect parts and finished products to ensure quality standards are met.
- Package completed products ready for dispatch.
- Assist with product rework when required.
Quality & Safety
- Follow all company health and safety procedures.
- Wear and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Identify and report defects, hazards, or quality issues promptly.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area in accordance with housekeeping standards.
- Support quality control processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
General Duties
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and supervisors.
- Assist in other production areas as required.
- Participate in training and development activities.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties required by management.
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, assembly, or production environment.
- Ability to follow work instructions and quality standards.
- Good attention to detail.

- Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
Desirable
- Experience operating manufacturing machinery.
- Experience within metalwork, appliance manufacturing, or assembly production.
