Metal Assembly Operative
Location: Normanton
Pay: £13.50 per hour
Hours: Monday–Thursday, 08:00–16:30 | Friday, 08:00–15:15
Contract: Temporary to Permanent
Our Client is looking for a Metal Assembly Operative to join their team on a temporary-to-permanent basis.
This is a great opportunity for someone with previous mechanical assembly, engineering or sheet metal experience who takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality work.
You will be responsible for assembling sheet metal components and mechanical features to precise engineering specifications. Accuracy, quality and attention to detail will be essential to ensure all finished assemblies meet the required standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble sheet metal components accurately and efficiently in line with engineering specifications.
- Install a range of mechanical components, including hinges, handles, locks, seals, gland plates and mounting plates.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical drawings and CAD layouts.
- Use a variety of hand tools, power tools, jigs and assembly equipment.
- Accurately position, align and fit components throughout the assembly process.
- Carry out quality checks to ensure assemblies meet the required specifications.
- Inspect completed assemblies for quality, functionality and overall finish.
- Identify and report any issues with components or finished assemblies.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised working environment.
- Follow company procedures, quality standards and health & safety requirements at all times.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in mechanical fitting, engineering assembly or sheet metal assembly.
- Confident ability to read and understand engineering and technical drawings.
- Experience using hand tools and power tools.
- Good mechanical aptitude with practical problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to work accurately both independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, hardworking and positive approach to work.
