We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Wiring/ Assembly Technician to join our Operations team in Dorset. In this role, you will be responsible for the assembly, wiring, testing, and repair of high-precision instrumentation, applying specialist manufacturing skills to deliver products to the highest quality standards.

Working within a dynamic manufacturing environment, you will support a wide range of specialist wiring assemblies and electrical test activities, contributing to the successful delivery of innovative products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble and wire complex electrical and electronic systems using technical drawings, wiring diagrams, circuit schematics, and work instructions.
  • Install terminals and electrical components to specification.
  • Solder complex high-density multi-pin connectors and surface mount devices (SMDs).
  • Carry out mechanical assembly of control cabinets, racks, frames, and associated metalwork.
  • Manufacture and assemble cable looms and harnesses.
  • Build, repair, and rework printed circuit board (PCB) assemblies.
  • Complete repairs, modifications, and product upgrades in line with documented procedures.
  • Perform detailed inspections and quality checks on wired assemblies.
  • Accurately maintain production records and update ERP and traceability systems while ensuring data integrity.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment, following all health and safety requirements, including ESD procedures.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A qualification in electrical assembly or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing or workshop assembly environment.
  • Soldering skills, including experience with high-density connectors and surface mount devices. IPC-A-610 and/or IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification would be advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
  • The ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and PCB schematics.
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to work independently to meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
  • A willingness to work within a manufacturing facility environment. While the role is not physically demanding, occasional lifting of equipment may be required.
