Assistant Accountant in Havant

CMA Recruitment Group is recruiting an Assistant Accountant for an established distribution business based in Havant. This is a hands-on opportunity within a strengthening finance function, offering the chance to contribute to improved processes and develop within an expanding business.

What will the Assistant Accountant role involve?

• Manage accurate purchase and sales ledger activity, resolving queries and maintaining reliable account records
• Prepare supplier payment information, customer invoicing, receipt allocations and supporting ledger documentation
• Complete monthly balance sheet and bank reconciliations, investigating variances and maintaining clear working papers
• Prepare and post routine month-end journals, including accruals, prepayments and corrections, with appropriate supporting evidence
• Support VAT, audit, year-end and continuous improvement activities while working closely with operational colleagues and the Financial Controller

Suitable Candidate for the Assistant Accountant vacancy:

• AAT Level 4 or equivalent 
• Confident preparing month-end journals and independently meeting reconciliation and close deadlines
• Strong Excel capability, including lookups, SUMIFS and PivotTables
• Sage 50 experience would be advantageous
• A proactive, organised and accountable approach, with the confidence to investigate discrepancies and suggest practical improvements
