Assistant Accountant

A growing and ambitious SME based in Bath is seeking a proactive Assistant Accountant to join its finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified accountant or experienced accounts professional looking to broaden their responsibilities and develop their career within a fast-paced and supportive business environment.


Your new role

• Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances
• Support month-end and year-end processes
• Maintain the fixed asset register and accruals/prepayments schedules
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities
• Reconcile bank accounts
• Maintain both accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
• Prepare VAT returns and other statutory submissions
• Produce financial analysis and reports for management
• Assist with process improvements and finance projects

What you'll need to succeed ​

• AAT qualified, qualified by experience or studying ACCA/CIMA/ACA
• Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance position
• Strong Excel skills and confidence working with accounting systems
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
• Capable of managing workloads and meeting deadlines
• Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop
• Experience within an SME environment would be advantageous
