The Role

As Assistant Accountant, you'll support the day-to-day running of the finance department and assist with producing accurate financial information to support business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Producing balance sheet reconciliations and investigating variances
  • Supporting month-end and year-end close processes
  • Accruals, prepayments, and journal postings
  • Assisting with cash flow forecasting and reporting
  • Supporting budgeting and forecasting activities
  • Processing and reconciling bank transactions
  • Maintaining fixed asset registers
  • Assisting with VAT returns and statutory reporting requirements
  • Producing financial reports and analysis for senior management
  • Supporting external audits and liaising with stakeholders
  • Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and controls

About You

We're looking for a proactive and driven individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and wants to develop their finance career.

Ideally you'll have:

  • Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant, Accounts Assistant, or Finance Assistant role
  • AAT qualified and studying towards ACCA/CIMA (or looking to start)
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships across the business
  • A positive, can-do attitude and a willingness to learn
