The Role
As Assistant Accountant, you'll support the day-to-day running of the finance department and assist with producing accurate financial information to support business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts
- Producing balance sheet reconciliations and investigating variances
- Supporting month-end and year-end close processes
- Accruals, prepayments, and journal postings
- Assisting with cash flow forecasting and reporting
- Supporting budgeting and forecasting activities
- Processing and reconciling bank transactions
- Maintaining fixed asset registers
- Assisting with VAT returns and statutory reporting requirements
- Producing financial reports and analysis for senior management
- Supporting external audits and liaising with stakeholders
- Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and controls
About You
We're looking for a proactive and driven individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and wants to develop their finance career.
Ideally you'll have:
- Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant, Accounts Assistant, or Finance Assistant role
- AAT qualified and studying towards ACCA/CIMA (or looking to start)
- Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships across the business
- A positive, can-do attitude and a willingness to learn
