Anderson Knight is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our clients finance team based in South Lanarkshire. This is an excellent opportunity for a part-qualified accountant looking to develop their career within a fast-paced transport business.
Working closely with the Finance Manager, you will support the day-to-day running of the finance function, ensuring accurate financial records and assisting with the preparation of management accounts and month-end processes. This role would suit someone who enjoys working in a busy environment, has a proactive approach and is keen to continue their professional development.
Key Responsibilities
•    Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts.
•    Support month-end and year-end financial processes.
•    Prepare and post journals, accruals and prepayments.
•    Reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet accounts.
•    Assist with cash flow reporting and forecasting.
•    Support the purchase and sales ledger functions as required.
•    Process VAT returns and assist with statutory reporting.
•    Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with company procedures.
•    Assist with budgeting and financial analysis.
•    Liaise with internal departments and external stakeholders where required.
•    Provide support during audits and other finance projects.
•    Carry out ad hoc finance and administration duties as required.
About You
We're looking for someone who is organised, reliable and able to manage their workload effectively. You will have a positive attitude, strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
Essential Requirements
•    Part-qualified accountant (AAT, ACCA or CIMA).
•    Previous experience in a finance or accounting role.
•    Good understanding of accounting principles.
•    Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
•    Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
•    Good communication and interpersonal skills.
•    Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
•    Strong organisational and time management skills.
Desirable
•    Experience within the transport, logistics or distribution sector.
•    Knowledge of accounting software such as Sage, Xero or similar ERP systems.
•    Experience of management accounts preparation.
