Assistant Accountant in Batley, West Yorkshire

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Accountant to join a business based in Leeds on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a varied role offering exposure across a broad finance function, supporting the day-to-day accounting activities and helping to ensure accurate financial reporting.

• Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts
• Post journals, accruals and prepayments
• Carry out balance sheet reconciliations
• Support month-end and year-end processes
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities
• Produce financial reports and analysis for stakeholders
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities when required
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with internal procedures
• Investigate and resolve account discrepancies
• Support process improvements across the finance function

• Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar finance position
• Good understanding of core accounting principles
• Experience with month-end processes and reconciliations
• Strong Excel skills and familiarity with finance systems
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
• Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
• Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to work

• Salary up to £35,000 depending on experience
• 12-month fixed-term contract
