Time Recruitment is proud to be working as a preferred recruitment partner for a successful and growing business seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant to join its finance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented finance professional who enjoys working in a hands-on role, supporting month-end processes, financial reporting, credit control, and business performance analysis. The successful candidate will play a key role within a collaborative finance function, helping to drive financial accuracy, process improvements, and operational efficiency.
The position is based in Wilmslow.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Accounting
- Assist with month-end and year-end accounting processes
- Support the preparation of management accounts, including profit and loss and balance sheet reporting
- Complete bank reconciliations and supplier statement reconciliations
- Assist with balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations
- Ensure accurate financial records and compliance with accounting standards and internal controls
- Support audit preparation and maintain finance documentation
Credit Control & Cash Flow
- Assist with the day-to-day credit control function
- Monitor customer accounts and support debt collection activities
- Maintain relationships with finance providers and external stakeholders
- Assist with cash flow forecasting and working capital management
- Help manage receivables, payables and inventory reporting
Financial Analysis & Business Support
- Produce financial reports and analysis to support business decision-making
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes
- Highlight financial trends, risks and opportunities
- Support cost control and margin improvement initiatives
- Provide financial insight to operational and commercial teams
Process Improvement
- Support ongoing improvements to finance processes and systems
- Assist with finance system developments and future system migrations
- Help identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reporting accuracy
- Provide support across all areas of the finance department when required
About You
We're looking for someone who brings a strong finance background combined with excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach.
Essential Requirements
- AAT Level 4 qualified or studying towards CIMA/ACCA
- Minimum 5 years' experience within a finance or accounting position
- Experience supporting management accounts production
- Strong knowledge of reconciliations, cash flow and credit control
- Excellent Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables and lookups
- Experience using Sage 50 or similar accounting software
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with non-finance stakeholders
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
Desirable
- Experience of ERP or finance system implementations/upgrades
- Exposure to budgeting and forecasting processes
- Process improvement experience
