Job Title: Assistant Branch Manager
Location: Cambridgeshire
Salary: £34,000 – £36,000 per annum DOE + Annual Bonus
Overview: An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Branch Manager to join a leading roofing supplies merchant at their Cambridgeshire branch. Working closely alongside the Branch Manager, you will play a key part in the smooth and profitable running of the branch across all operational areas—from sales and customer service to health & safety and team motivation. Key Responsibilities:

Supporting the delivery of sales and margin targets across the entire branch.

Building and maintaining strong, long-term working relationships with trade customers, suppliers, and team members.

Ensuring efficient stock control, effective pricing strategies, and timely, accurate deliveries.

Championing a strong health & safety culture and maintaining strict compliance with all standards and regulations.

Assisting with the maintenance of branch vehicles, conducting pre-shift checks, and managing branch infrastructure.

Leading by example to mentor, support, and maintain a highly motivated, service-driven branch team.

Stepping up to manage full branch operations seamlessly in the Branch Manager's absence.

Identifying local market growth opportunities and proactively responding to competitor activity.

Adopting a flexible, hands-on approach—whether supporting on the trade counter, assisting in the yard, or managing admin tasks.
Requirements:

Proven sales or customer service experience, ideally within the construction or building materials sector.

A solid understanding of roofing products is preferred, though not essential.

Demonstrable team leadership experience or strong supervisory capability.

Strong communication skills and proficiency with IT systems, including Microsoft Office and database software.

Confidence in working towards performance targets while delivering exceptional customer service.

A flexible, proactive, and team-oriented mindset.

A Counterbalance FLT licence is beneficial
