Assistant Buyer – House Building

We are currently working with a well-established house builder who are looking to appoint an Assistant Buyer to join their procurement team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Buyer, Junior Buyer or procurement professional looking to take the next step in their career and develop within the house-building sector.

You will work closely with experienced Buyers and Senior Buyers, providing support across the procurement function while gaining valuable exposure to the full buying process. The role offers excellent scope to develop your commercial knowledge, supplier relationships and understanding of residential construction.

The Role

Working as part of the buying team, you will assist with:

  • Sourcing and procuring materials, products and subcontractor services.
  • Obtaining and analysing supplier quotations.
  • Supporting Buyers with tendering and competitive procurement exercises.
  • Raising purchase orders and maintaining accurate procurement records.
  • Monitoring orders, deliveries and material requirements.
  • Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to resolve queries.
  • Supporting price negotiations and ensuring best value is achieved.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with the company's supply chain.
  • Assisting with procurement schedules, cost comparisons and reporting.
  • Working closely with site, commercial and technical teams to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Supporting the wider buying team with day-to-day procurement activities.

About You

We are keen to speak with candidates who are looking to build a long-term career in house-building procurement.

You may currently be working as an Assistant Buyer, Junior Buyer, Buying Assistant, Procurement Assistant or in a related construction/procurement role.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience within construction, house building or procurement.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Good numerical and analytical ability.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • The ambition to progress within a buying and procurement environment.
