Location: Dartford, Kent
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm
Work Pattern: Fully Factory-Based



The Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Factory Manager to support the Factory Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of our manufacturing facility in Dartford.

This is a hands-on leadership role, responsible for ensuring production targets are achieved while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and operational efficiency. You will play a key part in supervising production teams, driving continuous improvement, and supporting the smooth running of factory operations.



Key Responsibilities



Production & Operations

  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and monitoring daily production activities.
  • Ensure production targets, KPIs, and delivery schedules are consistently achieved.
  • Monitor workflow and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
  • Support process improvements and lean manufacturing initiatives.


Team Leadership

  • Supervise production staff, team leaders, and supervisors.
  • Assist with recruitment, training, and development of factory personnel.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching and support.
  • Promote a positive, productive, and safety-focused working environment.


Health & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and company procedures.
  • Carry out safety audits, risk assessments, and toolbox talks.
  • Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Maintain a strong health and safety culture across the factory.


Quality & Compliance

  • Work closely with the Quality team to maintain product standards.
  • Ensure adherence to company quality systems and procedures.
  • Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities.
  • Help reduce defects and improve overall product quality.


Maintenance & Continuous Improvement

  • Support preventative maintenance schedules to minimise downtime.
  • Liaise with engineering and maintenance teams regarding repairs and equipment performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects focused on productivity, quality, safety, and waste reduction.
  • Assist with the implementation of new systems, processes, and technologies.


About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Previous supervisory, team leader, or management experience.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes and production planning.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and best practice.
  • Experience of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Continuous Improvement, or similar methodologies.
  • Excellent organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
