SEND Inclusion Support is proud to be recruiting on behalf of a highly regarded specialist SEN school in Birmingham for an experienced and passionate Assistant Headteacher – Behaviour Lead.
This is an exciting opportunity for an inspirational leader who is committed to creating a positive, nurturing and inclusive environment where every pupil can thrive.
Working alongside the Senior Leadership Team, you will play a key role in leading behaviour, wellbeing and inclusion across the school, ensuring pupils receive the highest level of support whilst empowering staff to deliver outstanding practice.

The Role
As Assistant Headteacher (Behaviour Lead), you will:
- Lead the school's behaviour strategy and culture.
- Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and engagement across the school.
- Support pupils with complex SEND and SEMH needs.
- Coach, mentor and develop staff in behaviour management and trauma-informed practice.
- Monitor behaviour data and identify areas for improvement.
- Work collaboratively with families, external agencies and Local Authorities.
- Contribute to whole-school improvement planning.
- Support safeguarding, attendance and inclusion initiatives.
- Deputise for members of the Senior Leadership Team where appropriate.
- Help create a safe, nurturing environment where every child can succeed.
About You
We are looking for an exceptional leader who has:
✔ Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
✔ Significant leadership experience within education
✔ Experience working within an SEN or specialist setting
✔ A proven track record of improving behaviour, attendance or inclusion
✔ Strong knowledge of SEND, SEMH and trauma-informed approaches
✔ Excellent communication and leadership skills
✔ The ability to motivate, inspire and develop others
✔ A genuine passion for improving outcomes for children and young people

Essential Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Previous Senior Leadership experience
- Experience within SEN and/or SEMH education
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
- Right to work in the UK
