Job Title: Assistant Head- Achievement and Careers
Location: Hemlock Stone School, Stapleford, Nottinghamshire, NG9 8GA
Hours: 37.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday
Salary: £45,000 per annum (not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only
Start: January 2027

We're looking for an ambitious and forward-thinking Assistant Headteacher - Achievement & Careers to join our Senior Leadership Team and lead one of the most important aspects of our provision: ensuring every student leaves us equipped for a successful future.
This is an opportunity to shape whole-school strategy, drive improvement and create meaningful pathways that help young people move confidently into further education, employment and adulthood.

What you’ll be doing:
- Lead whole-school strategy for achievement, assessment, qualifications and careers.
- Drive improvements in student progress, attainment and destination outcomes.
- Develop an outstanding careers and employability programme that prepares students for life beyond school.
- Embed meaningful careers education across the curriculum.
- Use assessment and performance data to identify priorities and raise standards.
- Support and develop high-quality teaching and learning through coaching, monitoring and professional development.
- Lead on qualification pathways, examinations and accreditation opportunities.
- Contribute to school improvement planning and strategic decision-making as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team.
- Build strong partnerships with families, employers, colleges and external agencies to expand opportunities for students.
Who we’re looking for:
We're seeking an inspirational educational leader who combines strategic thinking with a genuine commitment to helping young people thrive.
- Significant teaching and leadership experience within education.
- A proven track record of driving improvement and raising outcomes.
- Strong expertise in assessment, data analysis and school improvement.
- Experience supporting students with SEND, including SEMH, Autism and complex needs.
- A sound understanding of EHCPs, the SEND Code of Practice and inclusive practice.
- The ability to inspire, coach and develop colleagues.
- Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills.
- The confidence to balance strategic leadership with day-to-day visibility across the school.
- GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above) or equivalent.
- QTS (desirable).
About Us
Hemlock Stone School in Stapleford, Nottinghamshire opened in March 2026, and caters for up to 66 students, providing a specialist learning environment for young people with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and Complex Needs.
At Outcomes First Schools, we provide specialist education for learners who need a deeper level of understanding, expertise and support than mainstream education can typically offer. We support students with a wide range of complex, co-occurring and neurodivergent needs, including autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and communication needs, dyslexia and experiences of trauma or adversity.
