Assistant Quantity Surveyor
Salary: £35,000–£45,000 per annum

We are recruiting for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a growing property maintenance and construction services business.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with at least two years’ experience in quantity surveying, commercial administration or cost management who is looking to develop their career within a supportive commercial team.
The role will focus on the commercial management of reactive and planned property maintenance works. You will assist with estimating, cost tracking, subcontractor accounts, invoicing and commercial reporting.
The Role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with the preparation of quotes and estimates
- Costing labour, materials and subcontractor packages
- Attending occasional site visits to gather information
- Monitoring job costs against quoted values
- Identifying and reporting cost variances
- Recording and managing variations
- Processing subcontractor quotations, orders and payment applications
- Maintaining accurate subcontractor and supplier records
- Supporting material procurement and supplier negotiations
- Assisting with deposit and final invoices
- Supporting weekly and monthly commercial reporting
- Maintaining accurate information on job management and cost systems
- Working closely with contracts, finance and operational teams
The Candidate
The successful candidate will have:
- At least two years’ experience in an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, commercial or cost administration role
- Experience with cost tracking, invoicing or subcontractor administration
- A basic understanding of quantity surveying and cost management principles
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Good organisational and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- The ability to manage several quotes and live jobs at the same time
- A relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related subject would be beneficial
Experience within property maintenance, reactive repairs, construction or another trades-based business would be advantageous.
The Opportunity
