As an Assistant M&E Quantity Surveyor you'll be joining their highly experienced commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career with a successful and growing contractor, working alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors on a varied portfolio of residential, commercial and mixed-use developments.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the commercial management of M&E projects from pre-construction through to final account.
- Support the preparation of cost plans, valuations, variations and final accounts.
- Measure and value completed works, ensuring accurate records are maintained.
- Assist with the procurement of subcontractors and suppliers, including issuing enquiries and reviewing quotations.
- Help manage subcontractor payments, applications and account reconciliations.
- Monitor project costs, budgets and cash flow, reporting any commercial risks or opportunities.
- Prepare and submit applications for payment and assist with client valuations.
- Work closely with Project Managers and Site Teams to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
- Assist in identifying and pricing variations, ensuring all changes are recorded and recovered.
- Maintain accurate commercial documentation and support monthly cost reporting.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, subcontractors and the wider project team.
- Support Senior Quantity Surveyors with the day-to-day commercial management of multiple projects.
- Previous experience in an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Assistant M&E Quantity Surveyor position.
- Experience working within the M&E, building services or construction sector.
- Understanding of commercial processes, including valuations, variations, subcontractor management and final accounts.
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications and contract documentation.
- Confident communicator with the ability to build strong working relationships.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Degree qualified (or working towards) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related construction discipline is desirable.
- Eager to learn, develop and progress within a growing M&E contractor.
- Full UK Driving Licence is desirable.
