Assistant Manager | Norfolk

Salary: £DOE

Are you passionate about horticulture and garden retail? Do you enjoy leading by example, inspiring a team and creating an outstanding experience for customers? If so, we'd love to hear from you.

We're looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Manager to join a well-established and highly regarded independent plant centre. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone ready to take the next step in their career, with genuine scope to progress into a more senior management position.

About the Business

This isn't your average garden centre. It's an established, independent plant centre with a loyal customer base and a reputation built on quality plants, knowledgeable staff and genuine customer service.

Plants are at the heart of everything they do. Customers visit not only for great products, but because they trust the advice, enjoy the experience and know they'll receive a warm welcome every time. They're continually looking for new ways to improve, making this an exciting time to join the business.

Why Join?

If you're looking for a role where you can genuinely make a difference, this could be exactly what you're after.

This is a business that values ideas, encourages initiative and gives people the freedom to have an impact. You'll be joining a close-knit team where your contribution will be recognised.

Whether it's improving the customer journey, introducing fresh merchandising ideas or helping shape the future of the centre, you'll have the opportunity to leave your mark while working with people who share your passion for horticulture.

About the Role

As Assistant Manager, you'll be at the centre of the day-to-day operation, supporting the Centre Manager while leading from the front. This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same.

You'll motivate and develop the team, ensure the plant area always looks its best, maintain exceptional retail standards and deliver the outstanding customer experience that keeps people coming back. You'll also use your commercial awareness to identify opportunities, drive sales and help the business continue to thrive.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who combines horticultural expertise with strong leadership skills and a real passion for delivering an exceptional customer experience.

You'll ideally have:

  • Experience working within a garden centre or plant retail environment.
  • Good horticultural knowledge and a genuine passion for plants.
  • Previous experience leading or managing a team.
  • A hands-on approach and the willingness to lead by example.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • A commercial mindset with the ability to spot opportunities and turn ideas into results.
  • Creativity, enthusiasm and fresh ideas to help keep the business moving forward.
  • A positive attitude, plenty of initiative and the drive to get things done.

If you love plants, enjoy developing people and want to be part of a business where you can make a real impact while progressing your own career, we'd love to hear from you.
