A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Assistant Mechanical Estimator to join a well-established and growing building services contractor. Working closely with an experienced estimating team, you'll receive hands-on training and mentorship, giving you the opportunity to develop your technical knowledge and build a long-term career within the business.
This role would suit someone with 1-2 years' experience in mechanical estimating who is looking to take the next step and join a company that genuinely invests in its people. Following a successful probation period, hybrid working is available with one day per week working from home.
The Role
- Assisting with the preparation of mechanical estimates and tender submissions
- Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation
- Obtaining and analysing supplier and subcontractor quotations
- Supporting senior estimators with cost planning and bid preparation
- Attending internal tender review meetings
- Assisting with value engineering and cost-saving exercises
- Maintaining accurate estimating records and databases
- Liaising with project, commercial and pre-construction teams throughout the tender process
- 1-2 years' experience within a Mechanical Estimating role
- Experience working on mechanical building services or construction projects
- A basic understanding of HVAC, pipework, public health and mechanical installations
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and estimating software
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn
- The ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
- A full UK driving licence would be advantageous
