Assistant Mechanical Project Manager Opportunity - Leading M&E Contractor
MK Search are working a leading M&E contractor who is looking to appoint an Assistant Mechanical Project Manager to join its established London team.

This position would suit a Mechanical Supervisor or Mechanical Site Manager who is ready to take the next step into project management.
Working closely with an experienced Project Director, you will receive structured support and training across the full project lifecycle. The aim is to develop you into a fully autonomous Mechanical Project Manager within 12 months.
The Role
As Assistant Mechanical Project Manager, you will help manage the mechanical package from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover.
Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting the delivery of mechanical packages safely, on time and within budget

Coordinating site teams, subcontractors, suppliers and specialist contractors

Monitoring programme progress and helping to resolve site issues

Reviewing drawings, specifications and technical information
-
Assisting with procurement, cost control and variation management
-
Attending client, design team and subcontractor meetings
-
Maintaining quality, health and safety, and project documentation
-
Supporting testing, commissioning and final handover
-
Providing regular progress updates to the Project Director

Gradually taking greater ownership of projects as your experience develops
The ideal candidate
You will have:
-
Experience as a Mechanical Supervisor, Mechanical Site Manager or in a similar site-based role

A strong understanding of mechanical building services
-
Experience working for an M&E contractor or specialist mechanical contractor

The ambition to progress into project management
-
Good organisational, communication and problem-solving skills
-
The confidence to coordinate site teams and subcontractors
-
A proactive approach and willingness to learn

Relevant mechanical qualifications
-
SMSTS or SSSTS would be advantageous
Previous experience on commercial, healthcare, pharmaceutical or data centre projects would be beneficial but is not essential.
