TXM Recruit are proud to be partnering with a leading engineering business within the rail sector to recruit an Assistant Project Manager.

This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and commercially aware individual looking to develop their career within project management, supporting the successful delivery of a range of engineering and rail projects.

Working closely with an experienced Project Manager, you will play a key role in coordinating project activities from planning through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

As an Assistant Project Manager, you will provide both project coordination and administrative support across multiple customer projects. You'll liaise with internal teams, customers and suppliers while monitoring project progress, maintaining documentation, tracking financial performance and helping ensure projects remain on schedule.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the planning, development and delivery of engineering projects.
  • Manage smaller projects or individual phases of larger programmes.
  • Coordinate with internal departments, customers, suppliers and other stakeholders to ensure projects run efficiently.
  • Schedule meetings and maintain project documentation, reports and records.
  • Prepare quotations, invoices and project-related documentation.
  • Monitor project budgets, schedules and resource allocation.
  • Track project progress using project management software and provide regular updates.
  • Identify potential project risks and work with the wider team to resolve issues before they impact delivery.
  • Ensure project financial information remains accurate and up to date.
  • Support continuous improvement across project processes while maintaining excellent customer service.
The successful candidate will have:
  • Previous experience supporting the planning, coordination or delivery of projects.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Experience communicating with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Confidence preparing reports, quotations, emails and project documentation.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work to tight deadlines.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team.
  • Good commercial awareness and a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • A genuine desire to learn and develop within project management.
Desirable Experience
  • Previous experience within the rail industry.
  • Experience working in a Project Management or Project Coordinator position.
  • A recognised Project Management qualification such as APM, PRINCE2, AgilePM or similar.
  • Experience using project management and collaboration systems such as Trello, ERP systems, Microsoft Project, Jira or Power BI.
