Assistant Quantity Surveyor

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a leading infrastructure contractor working on a major, long-term project in Kent.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Assistant QS looking to develop their commercial career while working alongside an experienced commercial team on a complex infrastructure programme.



The Role

Working closely with the Senior QS and Commercial Manager, you will support the commercial management and delivery of the project.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the preparation of applications for payment
  • Assisting with cost reporting, forecasting and CVRs
  • Supporting the management of change and variations
  • Assisting with subcontract procurement and administration
  • Monitoring project costs and financial performance
  • Assisting with commercial reporting and cost-to-complete reviews
  • Supporting the identification and management of commercial risk
  • Maintaining accurate commercial records
  • Working closely with the operational and commercial teams
  • Assisting with subcontractor payments and accounts


About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience working within a contracting/commercial environment
  • A degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management
  • Some experience within civil engineering, infrastructure, construction or a related sector
  • Good understanding of commercial processes
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • A willingness to learn and progress within a commercial team
