We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our established commercial team delivering multiple refurbishment projects within a live operational environment at Birmingham Airport. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a high-profile programme alongside an experienced team on complex Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) works.

Role Overview

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial management of MEP works across multiple projects. You will play a key role in maintaining cost control, managing subcontractors, and supporting the delivery of projects within a live airport setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the commercial team in managing MEP works across Birmingham Airport projects
  • Preparation and processing of subcontractor payment applications and notices
  • Raising and managing subcontract orders and purchase orders
  • Liaising between accounts and the project team to resolve commercial queries
  • Assisting in the compilation of cost reports for internal and external reporting
  • Supporting cash flow forecasting activities
  • Assisting with the measurement and valuation of works (from site and drawings), including variations and final accounts
  • Providing general commercial support to the wider team
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and supply chain partners
Skills & Experience
  • Strong team player with the ability to also work independently
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Hardworking, proactive, and detail-oriented
  • Demonstrates a strong willingness to learn and develop
Desirable Experience
  • Previous experience working with an M&E contractor or main contractor
  • Experience within live or operational environments (e.g. aviation, healthcare, infrastructure)
Training & Development
  • CSCS card training provided
  • Support for part-time degree studies
  • Ongoing support towards RICS accreditation
