An excellent opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join one of the UK's leading Tier 1 contractors, working on a landmark high-rise residential development in Nottingham.

This role offers the chance to develop your career on a major, high-value project, working alongside an experienced commercial team that will support your progression towards becoming a Quantity Surveyor and beyond.

The Role

Reporting to a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager, you'll assist with the day-to-day commercial management of the project while gaining exposure to all aspects of quantity surveying on a large-scale residential development.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the commercial management of subcontract packages from procurement through to final account.
  • Supporting the preparation of valuations, applications for payment, and cost reports.
  • Assisting with monthly cost value reconciliations (CVRs) and financial reporting.
  • Measuring works and assisting with the pricing and management of variations.
  • Processing subcontractor applications and supporting payment assessments.
  • Assisting with procurement, tender analysis, and subcontract package administration.
  • Maintaining accurate commercial records and project documentation.
  • Building positive working relationships with site teams, clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Supporting the commercial team in identifying risks, opportunities, and cost-saving initiatives.

About You

We're looking for a motivated and commercially minded individual who is eager to develop their career with a leading main contractor.

You'll ideally have:

  • Experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Graduate Quantity Surveyor, or Trainee Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor or construction environment.
  • Exposure to residential, commercial, or large-scale building projects would be advantageous.
  • A degree (or working towards a degree) in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.
  • A good understanding of construction contracts, with knowledge of JCT or NEC forms being beneficial.
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to learning.
  • A full UK driving licence is desirable.
