Our client is a well-established and respected residential housebuilder with an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality new homes. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their Commercial team based in Manchester.

The Role
Working closely with the Commercial Manager, you will assist in the commercial management of multiple housing developments, helping to control costs, support procurement activities and ensure projects are delivered efficiently and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation of tender packages and trade specifications.
- Support the tender evaluation and subcontractor appointment process.
- Help prepare purchasing schedules and procurement plans.
- Process subcontractor payments, variations and contra charges.
- Assist with monthly valuations and sales applications.
- Maintain accurate payment records and commercial documentation.
- Produce quantity take-offs and bills of quantities from construction drawings.
- Support the agreement and settlement of final accounts.
- Carry out site measurements and re-measurements where required.
- Attend pre-start meetings with subcontractors and record meeting outcomes.
- Provide commercial support to site and operational teams.
- Assist with contract administration duties.
- Ensure commercial procedures are followed and documentation is maintained accurately.
About You
We're looking for an organised and motivated individual with a keen eye for detail and a genuine interest in progressing within Quantity Surveying.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience in an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or similar commercial role.
- HNC, Level 4 qualification (or higher) in Quantity Surveying, or be working towards one.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Strong Microsoft Office and general IT skills.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
- A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
Desirable
- CSCS Card.
- Experience using COINS or a similar construction management system.
