Intermediate Quantity Surveyor - Commercial Fit Out Contractor - Central London
Salary/Package: £55,000 – £65,000 + Package or £300 - £325 ltd per day if long-term freelance is preferable
O’Neill and Brennan are currently working with an established and highly regarded commercial fit out contractor who are looking to appoint an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team, working across a range of refurbishment and Cat A fit out projects throughout Central London and the City.
The successful candidate will support the commercial management of projects from procurement through to final account, working closely with the wider project team and senior management to ensure the successful commercial delivery of each scheme.
Previous experience within the fit out market would be ideal; however, this is not essential. The client is also open to Quantity Surveyors who can demonstrate strong tenure and progression within a reputable main contracting environment. The role could also suit an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor who is ready to take the next step in their career and move into an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor position.

Responsibilities:
- Supporting the commercial management of refurbishment and Cat A fit out projects across Central London and the City
- Assisting with the procurement and commercial management of subcontract packages from tender through to final account
- Preparing subcontract enquiries, analysing tenders and assisting with negotiations and recommendations for award
- Managing subcontractor payments, valuations, variations and final accounts
- Monitoring project costs and supporting accurate commercial reporting and forecasting
- Identifying commercial risks and opportunities and assisting with appropriate cost control measures
- Working closely with project managers, construction teams, design teams, clients and subcontractors
- Building strong working relationships with subcontractors, consultants and wider project stakeholders
- Supporting the successful commercial delivery of projects while continuing to develop your own commercial and technical knowledge
Requirements:
- Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within a main contracting, principal contracting or fit out environment
- Previous commercial fit out experience would be advantageous but is not essential
- Strong tenure and demonstrable progression with a reputable main contractor will also be considered
- Could suit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking to step up into an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor position
- Experience assisting with the commercial management of projects and subcontract packages
- Good commercial awareness with strong communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a wider project team
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to commercial management
- Genuine ambition to develop and progress within the fit out sector
