Assistant Quantity Surveyor – Leeds or Burton

Salary: £35,000–£40,000 per year

About the Role

A growing construction and fit‑out business is seeking Assistant Quantity Surveyors to join its commercial team, with opportunities available in both the Leeds and Burton offices.

This role is ideal for someone looking to develop their commercial skillset within a fast‑paced environment, supporting live projects across retail, fit‑out and wider construction schemes. You’ll work closely with Senior QSs and Project Teams to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, accurately and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with cost control, forecasting and budget management across multiple projects 
• Support the preparation of tenders, subcontractor comparisons and procurement documentation 
• Help manage subcontractor orders, payments, variations and valuations
• Contribute to monthly commercial reports including cost/value reconciliations and cashflow updates 
• Maintain accurate project records, meeting packs and commercial documentation
• Liaise professionally with clients, subcontractors and internal teams to support smooth project delivery 
• Provide general commercial and administrative support to the wider commercial team

Requirements

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or related construction discipline (or qualified by experience)
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
• Confident communicator with the ability to work collaboratively across project teams
• Organised, proactive and able to manage multiple tasks in line with project timelines
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable working with project data
