We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a technically minded Assistant Site Engineer to join their team at a busy automated site in Worksop.

This is a hands-on technical role working alongside Site Engineers to help maintain and support sophisticated automated equipment operating within a 24/7 environment.

You don't necessarily need to come from a traditional engineering background. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience as a Technical Operator, Machine Operator, Production Technician, Engineering Assistant or similar, who are mechanically and technically savvy and enjoy understanding how machinery and automated systems work.

The Role

Working as part of the on-site engineering team, you will help ensure automated equipment is maintained to a high standard and continues to deliver the required performance.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting Site Engineers with the operation and maintenance of automated equipment and systems.
• Resetting equipment errors caused by product, equipment or operator issues.
• Identifying basic faults and escalating more complex technical issues appropriately.
• Supporting the smooth running of automated systems across a 24/7 operation.
• Carrying out basic mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks where appropriate.
• Completing cleaning, housekeeping and hygiene activities around equipment.
• Following escalation procedures and supporting technical investigations.
• Using maintenance and reporting systems to record issues and actions.
• Supporting site projects and continuous improvement activities.
• Working closely with Site Engineers, Shift Managers, Operatives and the wider site team.
• Attending training to develop your technical and engineering knowledge.

About You

We're looking for someone who is technically curious, practical and confident around machinery.

You may already be working as a:

Technical Operator | Machine Operator | Production Technician | Engineering Assistant | Maintenance Assistant | Mechanical Technician | Automation Operator | Skilled Production Operative

Ideally, you'll have:

• A mechanical or electrical maintenance background, or strong practical experience working with machinery.
• An understanding of automation and control systems.
• Good fault-finding and problem-solving ability.
• Good basic IT skills and confidence using computer-based systems.
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with customers and colleagues at different levels.
• A safety-first approach and the ability to follow detailed procedures.
• The flexibility to work a 12-hour days and nights shift pattern.
