Assistant Warehouse Manager | Retail / E-commerce | Liverpool | £32k

I'm working with a growing retail business that is looking for an Assistant Warehouse Manager (Retail) to play a key role in the day-to-day running of its warehouse operation.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys being close to the operation. You'll help lead the warehouse team, take ownership of stock accuracy and fulfilment, coordinate stock movements between locations and ensure retail customers receive a first-class service.

You'll work closely with the Warehouse Manager, supporting the team and helping to keep everything running smoothly, efficiently and safely. A valid FLT license is highly desirable.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Supporting the day-to-day management and supervision of the warehouse team.

  • Allocating daily tasks and priorities to ensure work is completed efficiently.

  • Overseeing the receipt, storage, picking, packing and dispatch of stock.

  • Booking stock in and out of the warehouse system and maintaining accurate records.

  • Investigating stock discrepancies, damages and shortages.

  • Coordinating stock transfers between warehouse locations.

  • Supporting stock checks and regular stocktakes.

  • Picking and packing retail customer orders accurately and within agreed timescales.

  • Loading and unloading deliveries and operating counterbalance FLT/MHE.

  • Supporting the training and development of warehouse colleagues.

  • Helping with rotas, holiday cover and workforce planning where required.

  • Dealing directly with retail customers regarding orders, stock, collections and deliveries.

  • Working with other departments to resolve customer and operational issues.

  • Maintaining a clean, organised and health & safety-focused warehouse.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who combines warehouse experience with strong people skills and isn't afraid to get stuck in.

Must haves:

  • Previous experience in a warehouse, stock control or retail distribution environment.

  • Experience supervising or leading a warehouse team.

  • Strong stock control and inventory accuracy experience.

  • Experience with picking, packing and customer order fulfilment.

  • A valid counterbalance FLT licence and practical forklift experience.

  • Experience using a warehouse, stock control or ERP system.

  • Excellent organisation and attention to detail.

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

  • The ability to prioritise effectively in a busy environment.

  • A proactive, hands-on approach and a genuine desire to improve how things are done.

Retail, e-commerce or multi-site warehouse experience would be a bonus.
