Assistant Welding Engineer
Location – Renfrew or Tipton
Role details:
Altrad are currently looking to recruit an Assistant Welding Engineer within our Asset Management sector to support the delivery of certified Asset Management services, consultancy, and integrated projects across the global low-carbon energy and infrastructure markets.
Reporting to the Welding Engineering Department Head, the Assistant Welding Engineer will support operational sites in the UK and overseas by providing technical welding engineering input and maintaining strong working relationships with clients and site personnel.
Key Deliverables:
- Assist in the provision of materials, welding, heat treatment, and NDT advice and procedures to operational sites in the UK and overseas.
- Assist with the review of internal and external welding-related documentation.
- Support welding and procedural development activities.
- Provide technical support across energy, petrochemical, and pharmaceutical sectors.
- Maintain strong client relationships and develop effective working relationships with site personnel.
- Support internal training activities when required.
- Apply strong technical knowledge of joining technologies to operational and project activities.
- Work collaboratively within the Welding Engineering team and independently when required.
Key Requirements/Qualifications:
- Degree or Diploma qualified in Metallurgy or a related Engineering discipline.
- Preferably working towards, or holding, EWE and/or CEng status.
- Strong understanding of high-pressure and high-temperature process plant environments.
- Knowledge of materials behaviour and fabrication challenges in demanding service conditions.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and on own initiative.
- Strong technical knowledge of joining technologies.
- Good communication skills and ability to build strong working relationships.
