Associate CDM Principal Designer Lead

An established international multidisciplinary consultancy is seeking an experienced Associate CDM Principal Designer Lead to lead and grow its CDM Principal Designer service across the Midlands. You will manage a regional team while delivering high-quality projects for a diverse portfolio of public and private sector clients.

This is a hybrid role, ideally suited to someone based in or around Birmingham. The successful candidate will support projects across the Midlands, with occasional travel to other UK locations as required.

The Role

As an Associate-level leader, you will be responsible for balancing technical delivery with people leadership and business growth. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will help shape the regional strategy, develop client relationships and ensure the successful delivery of CDM Principal Designer services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor and develop a regional team of CDM professionals.
  • Deliver CDM Principal Designer services across a varied portfolio of construction projects.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
  • Support business development by identifying new opportunities, preparing fee proposals and contributing to winning new work.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams to provide practical CDM and health & safety advice throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure compliance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
  • Contribute to regional planning, resource management and continuous service improvement.

Experience

You will be an experienced Senior CDM Principal Designer ready to take the next step into a leadership role.

You should ideally have:

  • Strong experience delivering CDM Principal Designer services across multiple sectors.
  • Excellent knowledge of the CDM Regulations 2015 and associated legislation.
  • Demonstrable experience leading and developing teams.
  • A commercial mindset with experience supporting business development and winning work.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities across a regional portfolio.

Qualifications

CMaPS accreditation.

CMIOSH or CertIOSH membership.

A recognised construction-related qualification or equivalent professional experience.

Salary: Up to £70,000 plus car allowance, pension, private healthcare and more.
