Associate Director - Fire Safety Consultancy
South-West & Wales | Building Surveying & Fire Consultancy | Competitive Salary + Benefits

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious fire safety professional to take a leading role in shaping and growing a specialist fire consultancy offering across the South-West & Wales.

We're working with a well-established and growing Building Surveying practice that is investing heavily in the development of its fire and building safety services. They're looking for an experienced professional who can combine technical fire safety expertise with leadership, client management and business development to help take the regional offering to the next level.

This is more than a project delivery role. They're looking for someone who can become the regional technical lead, build and develop a high-performing team, strengthen key client relationships and help establish a recognised Centre of Excellence for Fire and Building Safety Consultancy.

You'll have the opportunity to work on complex and high-profile projects across healthcare, education, residential, defence, commercial, infrastructure and public sector portfolios, while benefiting from the expertise and support of their wider national fire safety network.

The Role
As Associate Director, you'll play a key role in both the technical and commercial growth of their fire consultancy service.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and growing their fire safety consultancy offering across the South-West & Wales.
  • Acting as the regional technical lead for fire safety, building compliance and remediation projects.
  • Delivering complex fire consultancy commissions and providing expert advice on fire legislation, Building Regulations and fire safety compliance.
  • Providing specialist advice around passive fire protection, compartmentation and the Building Safety Act.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with strategic clients and acting as a trusted technical adviser.
  • Identifying new business opportunities and supporting the growth of their regional market presence.
  • Leading bids, tenders and fee proposals to secure new work.
  • Building, mentoring and developing a high-performing fire safety team.
  • Overseeing project delivery, governance, quality, financial performance and resource management.
  • Supporting regional business planning and contributing to growth strategies and targets.
  • Collaborating with their wider multidisciplinary teams and national fire safety network to share knowledge and deliver the best outcomes for clients.

About You
They're looking for an ambitious and commercially minded fire safety professional who is ready to take the next step into a senior leadership position.

Ideally, you'll have:

  • Strong experience within fire safety consultancy with excellent technical knowledge.
  • A strong understanding of fire risk, compliance, Building Regulations and relevant fire safety legislation.
  • Experience delivering complex projects and providing expert advice to clients.
  • Proven leadership and team management experience.
  • Strong commercial awareness and a track record of developing client relationships and winning work.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A relevant degree and recognised industry accreditation or chartership, such as MRICS, MIFSM or IFE.
  • A Level 4 Fire Risk Assessor qualification.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • NEBOSH, IOSH or similar accreditation.

Why This Opportunity?
This is a genuine opportunity to build something.

They have the infrastructure, national expertise and backing of an established business, but are looking for someone who can help shape the regional fire consultancy offering and make it their own.

You'll have the platform to:

  • Take ownership of the South-West & Wales fire consultancy service.
  • Build and lead your own high-performing team.
  • Work with major clients across a diverse range of sectors.
  • Influence regional strategy and business growth.
  • Access specialist expertise through a wider national fire safety network.
  • Help establish a recognised Centre of Excellence for fire and building safety.
  • Make a lasting impact on the direction and success of the business.

If you're an experienced fire safety professional who wants technical influence, commercial responsibility and genuine leadership opportunity, this could be the career-defining move you've been looking for.
