Associate Director – Drainage (civil)

Overview:

We are a multidisciplinary environmental consultancy seeking an experienced drainage professional to work within/lead our civils sub-team, which sits within our overarching Hydrology Team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well regarded and growing, independent environmental consultancy. Project work is broad, including outline drainage design for strategic land developments, detailed design works for residential, commercial, leisure, energy, renewables and defence projects.

You will have a relevant degree (i.e. in Engineering) or other technical qualifications combined with relevant experience (i.e. working for house builders) and ideally will have membership or working towards chartership (i.e. ICE or CIWEM etc.) Ideally circa 10+ years’ experience

As Associate Director, you will;

  • Manage and coordinate the civils budget, workload, and staff.
  • Grow the civils teams capacity and capabilities.

Skills and Experience:

  • Familiar with Drainage policy/guidance including CDM requirement as principal designer.
  • Experience preparing outline/detailed drainage designs, and preparation of drainage reports.
  • Familiar with standard industry software (Causeway Flow, PDS, AutoCAD, etc.).
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams, liaising with clients, statutory authorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to learn and navigate consultancy financial systems (e.g. Deltek PIM or similar).
  • Full driving license to drive to site or client/regulator meetings.
  • Experience working with Local Authorities, Lead Local Flood Authorities and Internal Drainage Boards.
  • Experience mentoring junior staff and providing technical review of reports and models.
