Our client is a globally recognised leader in Driver-in-the-Loop (DIL) simulation technology, partnering with some of the world's leading automotive manufacturers and motorsport organisations to develop cutting-edge driving simulation solutions.
 
They are looking to hire an Associate R&D Engineer to join their growing Research & Development team. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with around 1–3 years' experience to develop their career in systems engineering, automotive simulation and advanced real-time technology.
 
Working as part of a collaborative R&D team, you'll contribute to the design, development, and validation of innovative simulation systems, supporting projects from concept through to delivery.
 
Key responsibilities include:
 
  • Contribute to the development of new R&D projects and simulation technologies
  • Support system architecture, requirements definition, verification and validation activities
  • Assist with the design, testing and integration of complex engineering systems
  • Produce technical documentation, test reports and development records
  • Collaborate with software, hardware, manufacturing and project teams to deliver successful project outcomes
  • Support real-time simulation and system integration activities
  • Investigate and help resolve complex technical issues, providing support to internal teams where required
  • Participate in technical reviews and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Monitor project progress and escalate technical risks where appropriate
  • Occasional travel to customer sites to support project delivery and system integration
 
What are we looking for?
 
Essential
 
  • Degree (BSc or equivalent) in Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with one or more of MATLAB, Simulink, EtherCAT/TwinCAT (Beckhoff) or familiarity with real-time systems and motion control
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • A proactive approach with the ability to learn new technologies quickly
  • A genuine interest in engineering and technology
 
Desirable
 
  • Automotive engineering experience or a strong interest in the automotive industry
  • Knowledge of Driver-in-the-Loop (DIL) simulation
  • Exposure to systems engineering, verification and validation, or control systems
  • Interest in vehicle dynamics, driving simulation or motion cueing
