Location: Stratford-upon-Avon

Salary: £55-65,000

Penguin Recruitment is pleased to be working with a highly respected multidisciplinary consultancy to appoint an Associate Town Planner to its expanding Planning team in Stratford-upon-Avon.

This represents an excellent opportunity for an experienced and commercially focused planning professional who is ready to progress their career. The successful individual will take responsibility for a varied portfolio of projects, independently managing medium-sized schemes while assisting Directors with larger and more complex developments.

Joining a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will be involved in projects from their initial stages through to completion. You will build and maintain strong client relationships, provide high-quality planning advice and play an important role in supporting the continued growth and success of the planning function.

The Role

As an Associate Town Planner, you will manage a diverse range of planning projects and deliver professional planning advice to clients across multiple sectors. Working alongside Directors, clients, external consultants and colleagues across the wider business, you will help ensure projects are delivered efficiently and achieve successful planning outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing medium-sized planning projects from initial instruction through to completion.
  • Assisting Directors with the delivery of larger and more complex development proposals.
  • Attending client meetings and maintaining regular communication throughout each project.
  • Coordinating with external consultants and multidisciplinary teams to support the successful delivery of projects.
  • Preparing, submitting and reviewing planning applications, appeals and associated supporting documents.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with local planning authorities and other key stakeholders.
  • Providing support, advice and guidance to more junior members of the planning team when required.
  • Playing an active role in the ongoing development and expansion of the planning team.

Candidate Requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • A comprehensive understanding of the UK planning system and the role of local authorities.
  • Significant experience of professional planning experience gained within either consultancy or the public sector.
  • Chartered MRTPI status.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate confidently with clients, consultants and stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational and project management abilities, with the capacity to manage a varied workload and competing deadlines.
  • A full UK driving licence.
