Prospero Teaching are looking to recruit an excellent Attendance Officer interested in securing a role within a secondary school. Your role will be to monitor student attendance, investigate unexplained absences, and work with families to overcome barriers that may stop students going to school.

Attendance Officer

  • Location - Liverpool
  • Type of work - Temporary, long term
  • Start date - September 2026
  • Days - Full time
  • Hours - 8:30 am - 4:30 pm

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the electronic registration system to track late arrivals and following up on missing data with teaching staff.
  • Produce attendance reports to help the Safeguarding Team, Senior Leadership Team (SLT), Heads of Year, and the Local Authority identify trends of absence.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records.
  • Make initial enquiries with parents or carers regarding unexplained absences and punctuality concerns.
  • Conduct visits to families' homes to assess the root causes impacting a student's ability to attend.
  • Ensure all daily procedures align with the school's child protection and safeguarding policies.

To be eligible:

  • Hold a valid driving licence and access to a car
  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application.
  • Provide at least two professional references covering at least 24 months/cover the last 2 years
