Are you a highly organised and proactive Attendance Officer who is passionate about improving student attendance, engagement, and educational outcomes?
Reeson Education are recruiting a dedicated Attendance Officer to work in a supportive and inclusive school environment in Sheffield (S2) starting from September 2026. This role is ideal for an experienced education or administration professional who can build positive relationships with students and families while promoting excellent attendance and punctuality across the school.
About the Attendance Officer Role:
As an Attendance Officer, you will play a vital role in monitoring attendance, supporting students and families to overcome barriers to regular school attendance, and ensuring attendance procedures are implemented effectively in line with school policies.
Key Responsibilities as an Attendance Officer:
- Attendance Monitoring: Monitor daily attendance and punctuality, ensuring accurate records are maintained using the school's management information system.
- Attendance Improvement: Identify attendance concerns early and implement effective strategies to improve attendance and reduce persistent absence.
- Family Liaison: Build positive relationships with parents and carers, providing guidance and support to promote regular school attendance.
- Record Keeping & Reporting: Maintain accurate attendance records, prepare reports, and communicate attendance data to senior leaders and relevant staff.
- Multi-Agency Collaboration: Work closely with pastoral teams, safeguarding staff, local authorities, and external agencies to support students with attendance-related concerns.
To succeed as an Attendance Officer, you will need:
- Previous experience working as an Attendance Officer, Administrator, Pastoral Officer, or in a similar school-based role.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- An enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply through Reeson Education.
