TeacherActive is proud to be working with a well-regarded mainstream secondary school in Birmingham to recruit a Secondary School Attendance Officer. The school has a strong reputation for maintaining high standards of behaviour, inclusion, and student welfare, with a clear focus on supporting every learner to achieve strong outcomes.
The Secondary School Attendance Officer will play a key role in monitoring whole-school attendance, ensuring accurate daily registers are maintained and followed up promptly. This Secondary School Attendance Officer role is a long-term, full-time position starting in September 2026, involving close collaboration with pastoral teams, safeguarding leads, and parents to improve attendance and punctuality. The Secondary School Attendance Officer will also be responsible for conducting home visits, managing attendance interventions, and maintaining accurate records using SIMS or Bromcom.
The successful Secondary School Attendance Officer will have:
· Experience working in a school or education-based attendance/pastoral role
· Strong knowledge of attendance procedures, safeguarding, and punctuality tracking
· Experience using SIMS, Bromcom, or similar school MIS systems
· Excellent communication skills when dealing with parents and external agencies
· A proactive, resilient, and professional approach
· Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
