THE ROLE
An established and growing accountancy practice is looking for an Audit Senior to join its Glasgow-based External Audit team.

The role offers exposure to a varied client portfolio across corporate, charity, education, housing associations, SMEs and owner-managed businesses. The successful candidate will lead audits from planning through to completion, build strong client relationships and support the development of junior team members.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Audit Senior looking to develop their technical expertise and progress within a supportive, growth-focused practice.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead audit assignments from planning through to completion
Undertake complex and technical audit work as the senior fieldwork team member
Supervise, review and mentor junior team members and trainees
Prepare statutory accounts from trial balance, including audit adjustments and disclosures
Draft management letters and provide recommendations on controls and governance
Act as a key client contact and attend client, Audit Committee and Board meetings where required
Ensure audit work meets relevant standards, regulations and internal methodologies
Support Managers and Partners with proposals and business development
Contribute to the onboarding and development of graduate trainees
Undertake occasional UK travel, including overnight stays where required

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
CA or ACCA qualified with relevant post-qualification experience
Typically 4-6 years' audit experience, ideally including experience within an SME or mid-tier practice
Experience of supervising and reviewing junior staff
Strong knowledge of UK auditing and accounting standards, including ISAs and relevant FRSs
Experience working across medium to large audit engagements
Strong communication and client relationship skills
Well organised with the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines
Proactive, professional and quality-focused approach

DESIRABLE
Charity audit and accounts preparation experience
Further education or wider public sector audit experience
