Our client, a leading provider of integrated facilities management and infrastructure solutions is hiring for an experienced Authorised Person (HV/LV) to join a highly skilled engineering team operating within a secure and critical environment in South Buckinghamshire.
This role combines technical expertise with leadership responsibility, supporting the safe operation, compliance, and resilience of critical electrical infrastructure. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining operational continuity, ensuring engineering activities are delivered safely and in line with statutory requirements and site procedures.
Due to the nature of the site, applicants must be eligible to obtain and maintain Developed Vetting (DV) Security Clearance and be a sole UK national.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as Authorised Person (AP) for LV, HV, Standby Power Systems and Hazardous Areas, ensuring compliance with safe systems of work and site procedures.
- Achieve competency in a second discipline, such as:
- Working at Height
- Confined Space
- Mechanical
- Ensure the safe operation, maintenance and compliance of critical electrical infrastructure.
- Manage electrical isolations, switching operations, permits and authorisations.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to Skilled and Competent Persons.
- Act as Shift Manager when required, serving as the first escalation point for operational and technical issues.
- Coordinate planned, reactive and project maintenance activities to maintain site resilience and uptime.
- Lead fault-finding and incident response activities, ensuring effective resolution and minimal disruption.
- Supervise contractors and specialist service providers, ensuring work is completed safely and to the required standards.
- Promote a strong health, safety and compliance culture across the engineering team.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and operational excellence.
About You
You will be an experienced electrical engineering professional with a strong background in critical environments and the confidence to take ownership of operational safety and compliance.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Significant electrical engineering experience within critical infrastructure, industrial, defence, manufacturing, utilities, or complex building services environments.
- Proven experience operating as an Authorised Person for HV and LV electrical systems, Standby Power Systems and Hazardous Areas.
- Relevant electrical qualifications such as NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, BS7671 and recognised AP qualifications.
- Strong understanding of electrical safe systems of work, switching procedures and permit-to-work systems.
- Experience leading engineering teams or undertaking supervisory and shift leadership responsibilities.
- Excellent fault-finding, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work a variable shift pattern, including occasional weekends and participation in an on-call rota.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain Developed Vetting (DV) Security Clearance.
- Full UK driving licence.
