Automation Engineer

Elevation Recruitment Group are working with a reputable manufacturing business in Birmingham to recruit an Automation Engineer.

This role will focus on improving equipment reliability, minimising downtime, supporting production performance and driving automation improvements across a highly automated manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will act as the site's automation specialist, providing technical expertise across PLCs, robotics, controls and industrial automation systems.

Working hours - Monday-Friday - Days Only (flexible)
Salary - £60,000 (flexible depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Support automated production lines within a high-volume manufacturing environment
• Diagnose and resolve complex automation, controls and PLC-related faults
• Maintain and improve existing PLC programs, primarily Allen Bradley platforms
• Support ABB and Fanuc robotic systems across manufacturing operations
• Lead root cause analysis on recurring equipment failures
• Develop and implement automation improvements to improve OEE and productivity.
• Work closely with teams to reduce downtime
• Support commissioning, installation and validation of new equipment and automation projects
• Maintain electrical control systems, HMIs, drives and industrial networks
• Identify and deliver continuous improvement opportunities
• Ensure all activities comply with health and safety standards and engineering best practice

Technical Requirements

• Level 3 Electrical Qualification
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
• Robotics experience
• Paint line experience
• Assembly automation experience
• Strong automation engineering experience within manufacturing
• PLC fault finding, diagnostics and modification experience
• Allen Bradley PLC experience
• Experience supporting automated production machinery
• Understanding of electrical control systems and industrial automation
• Ability to lead complex fault-finding activities
• Experience working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
