- Perform MIG, TIG and stick welding on thin, rusty sheet metal, producing clean, accurate welds without burn-through
- Assess vehicle rust damage and determine the best repair approach prior to commencing work as an Automotive Welder / Fabricator
- Remove corroded sections using suitable methods, including grinding, sanding, blasting, or chemical treatment where required
- Fabricate and fit sheet metal sections, including patching and panel replacement to restore original contours
- Use plasma cutting to prepare repair areas and remove damaged metal efficiently
- Complete body filler work to achieve a high-quality finish after structural repairs
- Apply corrosion prevention measures, including priming and protective coatings
- Carry out structural repairs with sound judgement, maintaining strict workshop safety practices as an Automotive Welder / Fabricator
- Proven experience in a Welder / Fabricator role within automotive restoration or related metal fabrication
- Ability to weld thin sheet metal effectively, including in challenging conditions with rusty and weakened areas
- Knowledge of rust assessment and repair preparation methods (grinding, sanding, blasting, chemical treatment)
- Competent in sheet metal fabrication, patching, panel replacement and plasma cutting
- Experience applying corrosion prevention methods, including priming and protective coatings
- Ability to follow safety procedures and work to a high accuracy standard on classic vehicles
