AV/IT Support Technician
Location: South East London
Salary: £29,000 to £32,000
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 7:45am to 4:15pm
Contract: Permanent, full-time
MFK Recruitment is delighted to be recruiting an AV/IT Support Technician on behalf of a highly regarded education technology provider.
We have recruited 45 IT professionals into this company over the past six years, and 32 are still working there today, which speaks volumes about the culture, progression and support they provide.
This is a varied, hands-on position based at an independent school in South East London. You will take responsibility for setting up and operating AV equipment for school events while also supporting the wider IT team with day-to-day technical issues.
The role would suit someone passionate about both AV and IT who enjoys working with different people and wants to develop their technical career within a supportive and growing organisation.
What you’ll be doing
- Liaising with event organisers to understand their AV requirements
- Setting up and operating sound, projection and video equipment
- Ensuring AV equipment is working correctly before and during events
- Troubleshooting faults and arranging repairs when required
- Supporting users with the operation of AV equipment
- Maintaining AV equipment within the school’s main hall and classrooms
- Resolving first-line IT support tickets
- Providing technical support to teachers, staff and pupils
- Installing software and upgrading existing applications
- Testing and repairing laptops, desktops and other IT equipment
- Supporting the maintenance of the school’s network
- Managing hardware and peripherals
- Ensuring equipment and systems are safe for pupil use
What we’re looking for
- Approximately 18 months’ practical experience working with AV equipment
- Experience with sound, projection and video systems
- The ability to set up, operate and troubleshoot AV equipment
- Experience providing IT support within a Microsoft Windows environment
- Knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID and Intune
- Experience troubleshooting hardware and software issues
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A calm and solutions-focused approach when working under pressure
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent organisation, prioritisation and attention to detail
- A genuine passion for AV and technology
Industry-recognised AV or IT qualifications, such as CTS, Microsoft or CompTIA A+, would be beneficial but are not essential.
Additional information
This is a full-time, site-based position. The role includes attendance at up to 25 evening events each year, with hours normally offset through adjusted working hours or time off in lieu. Overtime may occasionally be available.
A term-time-only arrangement, plus two additional weeks, may also be considered with the salary adjusted accordingly.
