Salary: £73,788 per annum plus £5,628 shift allowance
Location: Carterton, Oxfordshire
Aeropeople are currently recruiting for a B1 Licensed Engineer (base maintenance) on behalf of our client based in Carterton, Oxfordshire.

As a B1 Licensed Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring their aircraft remain airworthy, safe, and mission‑ready. By certifying maintenance activities, leading technical tasks, and upholding the highest airworthiness standards, you will directly influence the reliability, performance, and operational availability of the fleet. Your expertise ensures that every aircraft leaving the hangar meets the strictest regulatory and safety requirements, contributing to the success of a nationally important aviation operation.
Reporting to the Base Shift Manager, the B1 Licensed Engineer will carry out and certify aircraft maintenance activities in accordance with regulatory and company quality standards. Working closely with the Shift Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring tasks are completed safely, accurately, and efficiently to meet operational demands and customer contractual requirements.
Please note that this role will involve working a mixture of day and night shifts (7.30am- 7.30pm and 7.30pm- 7.30am) and will operate on a rotation of 4 on/ 5 off, 5 on/ 4 off, 5 on/ 5 off and the cycle repeats.
This is an exciting opportunity, open to all B1 licenced engineers, with at least 1 type rating currently on their licence.
Main Responsibilities:
- Certify aircraft maintenance and servicing tasks in line with regulatory requirements, company procedures, and the scope of your authorisation.
- Supervise and support technical staff to ensure all maintenance work is completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with approved documentation.
- Maintain and manage all aircraft-related documentation, ensuring certifications and records are completed correctly and without delay.
- Take responsibility for tooling, materials, and equipment, ensuring they are used appropriately, accounted for, and kept in a clean and safe condition.
- Encourage a positive working culture by motivating team members and promoting open and honest reporting.
- Work closely with Technical Services and Planning Engineers to resolve technical issues, support scheduling, and maintain efficient workflow.
- Ensure Health, Safety, and Environmental standards are applied consistently across all maintenance tasks.
- Escalate any safety concerns or disciplinary issues to the Line Manager promptly.
- Provide cover for Senior Engineers during periods of absence, taking on additional responsibilities when required.

About You:
- CAA B1 Licence with at least one type rating (A330 preferred but not essential) and valid Company Authorisation.
- Strong, proven experience certifying maintenance tasks within a Base Maintenance environment.
- Solid understanding of zonal maintenance working practices and the demands of operating within a structured maintenance system.
- Confident using industry-standard technical data systems, manuals, and man-hour recording tools.
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of tasks, delivering work to required timescales and standards.
- Experience with structural repairs, modifications, and working on complex aircraft systems.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to liaise professionally with internal teams and external partners.
- Experience mentoring and supporting the development of junior staff or less experienced engineers.
- Ability to respond to short-notice operational requirements, including AOG recoveries at deployed locations.
