We have an exciting opportunity for an MRI Radiographer in The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust to join the Specialist Imaging Team at The Princess Alexandra Hospital. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality MRI imaging services across both the acute hospital and Community Diagnostic Centre sites, ensuring safe, effective, and patient-focused care. You will support the day-to-day operation of the MRI service, contribute to clinical excellence, and provide guidance and mentorship to junior colleagues. Working across a modern imaging environment with expanding service capacity, you will play a key role in supporting the continued development and delivery of a comprehensive 7-day MRI service.
Main duties of the job
As an MRI Radiographer, you will be responsible for supervising and supporting newly qualified radiographers, students, and assistant practitioners, ensuring they develop the required skills and competencies to deliver safe and effective practice. You will provide guidance, share your specialist knowledge, and contribute to a supportive learning environment that encourages confidence and professional growth. You will also assist colleagues in achieving competency by providing appropriate support, feedback, and encouragement throughout their development.

Job responsibilities
- To communicate effectively with patients, relatives, clinicians, and colleagues across the organisation, ensuring information is shared clearly and professionally while responding appropriately to individual needs and circumstances.
- To maintain accurate and timely patient records using appropriate manual and electronic systems, ensuring all documentation meets confidentiality, data protection, and professional requirements.
- To contribute to departmental governance activities by participating in quality assurance processes, audits, and safety reviews to support compliance with agreed standards and procedures.
- To monitor the condition and safe use of MRI equipment and accessories, reporting faults, hazards, or malfunctions promptly and maintaining appropriate records in accordance with departmental processes.
- To organise and prioritise your own workload effectively, balancing multiple demands while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and a consistent standard of professional practice.
- To maintain professional and legal accountability by adhering to relevant legislation, Trust policies, MRI safety procedures, and health and safety requirements while acting as a positive representative of the radiology service.
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
- HCPC registered Radiographer with BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Imaging or equivalent qualification.
- MRI competent with a broad knowledge of radiographic practice and NHS imaging experience.
- Experience managing challenging situations and working effectively under pressure with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills with the ability to support and mentor colleagues.
- Flexible, reliable, self-motivated professional with a commitment to continuous development and service improvement
